Vintage European Framed Sculptural Glazed Majolica Tile, Circa 1940s-50s. The sculpted and glazed panel features a large barrel at the center (likely representing wine) with a double-arch monument behind glazed a luscious vibrant green. The leaves and berries along the lower portion of the panel are likely grapes and grapevines. At the margins of the tile is a thin blue stripe border with illegible signatures along the lower edge. Likely produced in Portugal. Framed in minimal wood frame with gilt detailing and an inset olive velvet liner.
Condition: Great vintage condition. The tile is in excellent condition with only one small glaze chip (photographed lower right). The frame has some areas of light wear with small areas of rubbing and gilt loss. The inset olive mat (faded to this color over time) has areas of rubbing a shown.
