Antique Folk Art Polychrome Pine Checkerboard, Circa Early 20th Century. Constructed from four pine boards with edge trim detailing and vertical boards bracing the underside. The surface is embellished with oxblood, black and cream paint, designed with 144 spaces for a game of Canadian checkers. The top and lower black-painted sections were built to function as game-piece storage. The incised surface between each square adds texture and helps to define the pattern. Perfect as wall art or use as a tabletop tray. Unsigned.
Condition: Great antique condition, wear commensurate with age and use. Areas of rubbing and paint loss as detailed in images. One small break in the lower section of trim, as shown.
