Vintage "Il Circo" Screen Print Linen Wall Hangings, Circa 1960s
Vintage "Il Circo" Screen Print Linen Wall Hangings, Circa 1960s. Circus-themed, titled “Il Circo,” these Italian natural linen panels were produced by Zucchi of Milan. Printed in tones of yellow, red, orange, black and green, each panel presents a different theme from the circus, with verbiage in Italian, English and French. Illustrated are "The Music” with a three-part band, “The Clowns” with two whimsically dressed clowns and “The Tamer” with a lion and its tamer. Stamped ZUCCHI MILANO in the lower right of each. These were likely samples, and possibly never produced, with hand written notes for what we assume was sample or pricing details in the upper right of the clown panel.
