Dating from the 1930s, the body of the Dresden mesh purse is largely constructed from a silvertone metal micro chain mail. The surface has been treated with an enamel abstract floral design in shades of lilac, lime and soft pink. A geometric Deco lime enamel motif adorns the center of the silver frame, on front and back. Kisslock closure and chain handle. Branded “Whiting & Davis Co Mesh Bags” on the interior in two places along the frame. Unlined.
Dating from the 1920s, the body of this French purse is largely constructed from anodized micro cut steel beads in a stripe and floral design. The beads range in color from gold, silver and copper to lavender, fuchsia and lime. A twisted fringe adorns the bottom edge, adding interest. The brass frame is quite detailed, with stamped motifs along the edge and a central pull + push button closure. The chainlink handle offers adjustability with two length options for wear. Lined in a light peach silk with an interior label that reads “Made in France”.
*Each handbag offered individually.
Condition: Both bags are in excellent condition with minimal wear. Light areas of finish variation present, as detailed. The cut steel bead handbag has one fringe repair, and displays light areas of wear to the interior lining.
