Vintage Dynamic Hand-Carved Blonde Wood Figure with Broom Attributed to Junior Cobb, Circa 1970s. This active work features a woman pausing in the middle of work, leaning on her broom. The artist rendered her skirt in motion as she as she steps forward. Likely created in the likeness of Mearl Duncan per the inscription on the base, “Mearl Duncan Mtn. Home Ark. Three Brothers.” Unsigned, attributed to Ozark woodcarver, Junior Cobb.
Junior Cobb, was an elusive Ozark woodcarver from Three Brothers, Arkansas, known for his works centering his passion for wildlife and “hillfolk.”
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Minimal surface wear commensurate with age. A couple small areas of light abrasion and watermarks on base as photographed.
