Vintage Monumental Wood + Tin Polychrome Key Trade Sign, Circa 1930s-40s. Large-scale wood key trade sign braced with tin. Fashioned from pieced and applied wood, this bold, realistic sign was designed to hang outside of a locksmith’s shop signaling to customers. Beneath the bold, yellow-painted surface reveals layers of orange, silver, black and cream. Presence of holes along the top edge of the key indicate that it would have been mounted horizontally as an exterior shop sign. Unsigned.
Condition: Great vintage condition, surface variation present throughout with light losses along the edges. Areas of splits and repairs present along the bow as detailed.
