Antique Gibson Girl-Style Illustration on Postcard, Circa Early 20th Century
Antique Gibson Girl-Style Illustration on Postcard, Circa Early 20th Century. The sender likely created and sent this love token to his paramour. The pen and ink profile rendering is likely based on the receiver, Miss Linda Seaman of St. Johnsville, NY (based on the redacted address on the reverse of the postcard). Alongside the illustration, the sender writes, “my eternal ? IIII you” “from Ed. Good Night 319 e main st. Malone ny.” The one-cent MckInley stamp denotes this would have been mailed between 1901-1910s. One can assume the receiver was flattered and decided to preserve it by framing the piece.
