Antique Japanese Woven Bamboo Ikebana Basket, Circa 1920s. Formed from woven bamboo, with large strips interwoven with more intricate thinner strips. A tall tightly woven and twisted handle forks on each side of the basket as it joins the body of the piece. Unsigned

Ikebana, "arranging flowers" or "making flowers alive" is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. The tradition dates back to Heian period, when floral offerings were made at altars and were later used to adorn traditional Japanese homes.

Taisho Period - 1912 to 1926, coinciding with the reign of the Emperor Taisho.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Minimal body wear with only a couple small splits in the bamboo form (as shown in photos)
