Vintage Mid-Century Art Glass by Miloslav Klinger for Železný Brod Sklo, Czechoslovakia, Circa 1960s. These mouth blown sommerso glass vessels are true works of art. The freeform biomorphic shapes show off the true beauty and saturation of the glass in shades of chestnut brown and pale yellow. The large vase features a slim footprint with a wide mouth, perfect for fresh or dried florals. The smaller vessel can easily function as a vide poche, small vase or ashtray (as it was likely intended by design). This piece also retains an original foil maker label.

Miloslav Klinger (b. 1922 - d. 1999)
Miloslav Klinger was born in Hrubá Horka near Železný Brod. He studied at the Glass School in Železný Brod. After completing his studies, Klinger returned to Železný Brod as a designer, where, apart from his brief career as director of the Glass School in Železný Brod, he remained throughout his career.

Zelezny Brod Glassworks
Železný Brod is a historic glass-producing town founded in the eleventh century. The Železný Brod (ZBS) glassworks was created in 1948, and became particularly well known for its free-form organic vessels designed by Miroslav Klinger.

CONDITION: Great vintage condition. The large vase form has one chip on the underside edge of the base (barely visible, and only noticeable when flipped). Otherwise both vessels show very light signs of wear, with the only scratching concentrated to the base undersides (as pictured).
