Vintage Wood Card Box with Inlay Details from Gargiulo Lace House of Italy, Circa 1920's-30's. This rectangular lidded box is designed in-the-round with inlay details on all sides. The face and backside include inlaid contrast wood playing cards with hand painted details, as well as botanical renderings and birds. The piece is designed with pinstripe inlay along the sides, and a detailed central band separating the base from the lid. Crafted by Gargiulo's Lace House of Sorrento, Italy, the company has been in business since the mid 1800's producing fine quality inlay items as well as embroideries, lace, and pottery. Fits 2 standard decks of cards. The interior of the lid retains its original Gargiulo’s paper label.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The box is structurally sound, but has surface fissures only through its top veneer layer, due to the age of the wood. No missing details from inlay. Retains original interior paper label.
