Vintage Japanese Yosegi Wood House Puzzle Box, Circa 1950s. Cleverly constructed puzzle box fashioned after an idyllic home with three integral parts. The pitched roof lifts the lid of the box, revealing an open interior. The roof opposite the chimney also has a section that slides up to expose a secondary interior compartment. The home’s details: roofing, windows, doors and shrubbery are all rendered with inlays in an array of wood types. Likely made in Hakone, Japan utilizing the diversity of available woods in the region. Unsigned.
