Antique Leather + Brass Faux Book Storage Box, Circa 1870s. Designed to resemble a small leather-bound family photo album. This small-scale storage box is perfectly disguised, down to the functional brass hinged clasp closure, tooled leather exterior and gold embossed “Album” along the spine. The double clasp design incorporates a small brass leaf detail (one missing). Gilded paper over wood mimics the pages of the book, with a cream paper interior. Unbranded, likely produced in Europe.
Condition: For its age, this leather storage box is in great condition. Well-used, it shows signs of wear and use. A small area of separation along the spine, where the cover pivots open. One small brass leaf detail missing on clasp. One small area of leather surface cracking, front lower right corner (as detailed in images). Signs of wear and use on the interior with marks and light staining.
