Antique Dutch Copper Tobacco Box with Hand-Engraved Portraits, Circa 18th Century. This oval hinged lid storage box incorporates etched scenes on the top and base planes. The lid’s engraving shows two medallions with double-sided heads within each, surrounded by intricate filigree. The base of the box is engraved with two reclining figures and a stone structure in the distance. Unsigned.
Condition: Good antique condition commensurate with age and use, smalls areas of denting throughout. One minor crack in the hinge on the reverse (as pictured). Surface engraving is faint in areas from age and use.
