Vintage Folk Art Hand-Painted "US Eagle C.G." Clam Shell, Circa 1950s. Natural half clamshell with a hand-painted ship on the interior surface in shades on cerulean, lime, cream and black. Identified as the “U.S. Eagle C.G.” in black lettering along the lower edge of the interior. Signed “HTH” lower right of the ship.
“The Eagle” is a three-masted sailing barque used for training by the US Coastguard, with its home port at the CG Academy in New London, Connecticut. One of five remaining training barques in world, it is the only active commissioned sailing vessel in the U.S. maritime services.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal surface wear as detailed in images.
