Antique Varnished Cotton Macramé Sailor's Sweetheart Handbag, Circa Early 20th Century. A nautical memento, this piece was likely crafted aboard a ship in hopes of gifting it to a loved one. We’ve seen other examples of this craft, but this is the first handbag. The body is fully crocheted with a band of openwork across the center and integrated tubular handles. Unsigned.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with minimal surface wear. The weave has stiffened over time, best used as a decor piece.
