Antique Large-Scale Painted Wicker Mushroom Style Floor Lamp, Circa 1910s-20s
Antique Large-Scale Painted Wicker Mushroom Style Floor Lamp, Circa 1910s-20s. Monumental woven wicker floor lamp with a biomorphic mushroom form. The wide perforated shade with dramatic scalloped edge sits atop an elongated shaft and fluted base. It is likely the shade would have originally been lined in fabric with a fringe edge. The polychrome finish reveals painted layers of chocolate and blue-green along with natural wicker. Unlabeled.
Condition: Great antique condition, surface variation and wear present throughout with very minor breaks to the wicker throughout. Slight warp to the shade from hand-weaving and naturally-occurring contouring over time (as pictured). The interior structure has been repaired (not visible) adding strength. Paired with a more modern brass finial.
