Antique Art Deco Large-Scale Silvered Wrought Iron Wall Mirror with Bullion Tassel Details in the Manner of Edgar William Brandt, Circa 1920s. An exemplary wrought iron wall mirror with finessed metalwork details from the Art Deco period. The beveled, arched mirror is set within a hand-hammered frame, punctuated by scrolling metal details and hammered orbs along the top. Every detail is considered with this piece, down to the twisted bullion hanging rope and tassels. A fine example of French Art Deco design. In the manner of Edgar Brandt and Paul Kiss. Unsigned.
Edgar Brandt (1880-1960) is regarded as the preeminent French metalworker of the Art Deco Period. Brandt was integral to the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in 1925. Recognition of his work led to an increase in commissions for private estates, ocean liners and hotels. Brandt was awarded numerous prizes and honors during his lifetime.
Condition: Great antique condition, light loss to patinated finish with surface variation present throughout, wear commensurate with age and use (as pictured). Once small weld separation in the top details as photographed, barely visible and does not detract.
