Antique Geometric Chip Carved Wall Pocket / Comb Box With Beveled Glass Mirror, Circa Late 19th Century. An impressive 15-layer tramp art form, the design incorporates pyramid motifs and a central storage well, likely intended for a comb and shaving tools. The piece retains its original beveled glass mirror. Interestingly, the back is fully finished, complete with chip-carved detailing, signed “C. W.” The back also reveals that the frame was likely, largely constructed from repurposed wood cigar boxes, as was typical with many tramp pieces of the period.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with minimal wear. Small areas of abrasion and one small trim loss along the very top edge (barely noticeable). The original glass mirror panel has areas of fogging and spotting as detailed in images.
