Antique Hand-Painted Scenic Box Lid, Circa Mid 19th century. A lively outdoor scene comprised of a seated couple under a tree, holding back a small dog from chasing a pair of swans. This piece originally functioned as a lid to a box, with remnants of leather hinges present. The reverse of the board is covered in pencil notations, mainly simple math equations. Unsigned.
Presented as part of our “Nameless Art + Design” Show collection, January 2024.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. Minimal surface wear, with one small loss to the edge of the painted board as photographed (left side).
