Vintage Still Life Painting on Board of African Mask and Lobster Claw, Circa 1940s

$698.00

Vintage Still Life Painting on Board of African Mask and Lobster Claw, Circa 1940s. Spiritual, reverential scene painted on board incorporating elements of the sea and land. A mask, reminiscent of the Dan people’s Dean gle (masks) or styles from the Makonde tribe, is set against beautifully draped swaths of gold and red fabric. The base of the still life presents a gnarly branch of driftwood and a large portion of a lobster’s claw. Set within its original gilt carved wood frame. Artist unknown.

Presented as part of our “Nameless Art + Design” Show collection, January 2025.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal surface wear and light surface abrasion. One surface scratch on the lower center as detailed in images.

Specs: 18 1/4" H | 14 1/4" W | 7/8" D | ARTWORK - 15 1/2" H | 11 1/2" W
