Vintage Wood Folk Art Kinetic Gear Sculpture, Circa 1930s. Constructed from laminated wood and pine with painted paper and surface details. The five gears are held within the wood frame with metal hardware, bolts and thumb screws. A rear crank allows the gears to be rotated. It’s likely that this piece was created as a model for a larger work, possibly to test the alignment of gears. Works perfectly as a standalone sculpture. Unsigned.
Condition: Great vintage condition. Areas of small losses to gear teeth, finish variation and areas of rubbing along the base (as detailed in images.) Although the gears are able to rotate, we do not recommend, as the wood construction is fragile.
