Vintage Herman Sperlich Health Chair for Ironrite Corporation, Circa 1930s

Vintage Herman Sperlich Health Chair for Ironrite Corporation, Circa 1930s

$358.00

Vintage Herman Sperlich Health Chair for Ironrite Corporation, Circa 1930s. An early example of the Health Chair designed by Herman H. Sperlich in 1938 for the Ironrite Ironer Company in Detroit Michigan. Ergonomic build and made specifically for workers using the company’s industrial ironing machines. Streamlined steel and laminated wood construction with white enamel paint. The later 1940s versions replaced the laminated plywood components with stamped metal. The backrest pivots and has an applied decal on the reverse with patent no. D112453. Part of the MoMA’s permanent collection.

Condition: Good vintage condition. Signs of wear from age and use throughout with areas of paint loss, finish variation and scratching. White enameled surface has yellowed with time. Does not detract from the overall look.

Specs: 28” H | 19 1/4” Depth | 16 3/4” Width | 17 3/4” Seat Height | 16 3/4” Seat Width | 15 3/4” Seat Depth | 10” Seat Back Height
