Antique Victorian Black Painted French Bamboo + Knot Rope 3-Panel Room Divider, Late 19th Century. Turned “French Bamboo” wood frame with hinges connecting each panel. The body of each is constructed from rope with repeating knot details throughout. A very rare find due to the fragility of the material, possibly custom-made. A true statement piece, perfect for layering. Unsigned.
Condition: Great antique condition for its age. Painted black later in its lifetime. The rope/ knot portion of each panel likely would have originally extended to the base, but has since been shortened. Some breaks in the rope weave as detailed in images, as well as abrasions to the frame surface. The breaks in weave do not affect the stability of the piece or overall look.
