Vintage Mid-Century Abstract Acrylic on Board Cityscape, Signed Andre, Circa 1950s. Abstract cityscape centered on a row of densely packed skyscrapers. A sense of rapid movement is given to the piece with the employment of impasto, mirroring the bustling activity of city life. Likely illustrating New York City in the 50s. Rendered in shades of yellows, greens and blacks with sky blue against the raw canvas board. Raised areas of paint splatter were built within under-layers, adding texture. Framed and signed in the lower, right-hand corner in red, "ANDRE."
CONDITION: Great vintage condition, light discoloration and losses / flecking to the painted surface, wear commensurate with age and use (as pictured).
