Vintage French Street Scene Framed Painting, Signed Leroi, Circa 1933. In the style of works by Maurice Utrillo with a playful flair. The piece draws the viewer into the scene with a central street winding through buildings rendered in soft shades of gray, cream, green, pink and brick red. A hotel, tobacco vender, wine shop, and grocery are all illustrated, without a single person in sight. The dark, cloud filled skies show small hints of yellow, as if the sun may appear soon. Painted on masonite board and framed in an original period painted wood frame. Signed “Leroi” in the lower right corner. Dated 1933 on reverse in pencil.
Condition: Great vintage condition. A couple small surface abrasions barely noticeable (and detailed in photos). Lower left corner of frame has a small loss.
