Antique Southern Olive Green Glazed Pottery Jug with Make-Do Handle, Circa Late 19th Century

Antique Southern Olive Green Glazed Pottery Jug with Make-Do Handle, Circa Late 19th Century

$328.00

Antique Southern Olive Green Glazed Pottery Jug with Make-Do Handle, Circa Late 19th Century. Wheel-thrown stoneware form finished with a drippy, olive green alkaline glaze. The pronounced lip formerly connected to the bottle with a pulled handle. In its absence, a wood and wire make-do handle was added later in life to maintain the functionality of the piece. Stamped “2” near the neck of the jug, noting its volume capacity. Unsigned.

Condition: Good antique condition, surface wear present throughout, the handle was broken off earlier in life (as pictured) and replaced with a make-do handle. Chips present along underside edge, barely visible and does not detract from the overall look.

Specs: 14 1/2" H | 8 1/2" Diameter at Widest | 7" Base Diameter | 1 1/4" Opening
