Antique Round Glass Mirror with Molded Gutta-Percha Stepped Frame, Late 19th Century. Frame is molded into a stepped circular form of gutta percha, a durable thermoplastic latex derived from the South East Asian tree. Original heavy glass mirror, with lightly antiqued finish. The mirror is fully enclosed, with a finished back, and brass ring mounts for hanging.

Condition: Excellent antique condition, some wear and surface variation apparent from age and use (as pictured). The frame may have been lacquered black at some point, with small traces still visible along the frame.
