Vintage Mid-Century Carved Bust Table Lamp by Edward Armen Stasack, Circa 1950s. Monumental hand-carved bust rendered in a rather demure state. The feminine features of the subject are exaggerated with a chevron hairline, pronounced nose and eyes. Stasack spent a great deal of his life in Hawaii, becoming enamored with its people and culture. This bust is likely inspired his time there. The modernist form incorporates a stepped, self plinth base with its bottom portion lightly brushed in a gilt finish. The brass stem for the lamp is offset from the sculpture in the rear, creating the perfect spotlight for the work. Signed "Stasack" en verso.

Edward Armen Stasack was a Chicago-born artist. Most of his career was spent in Hawaii working for the University of Hawaii, teaching and later chairing its art department. After retirement, he and his wife dedicated their time to documenting the ancient petroglyphs of Hawaii. He was an experimental artist across various mediums, known for creating a collograph printmaking technique. His works are held in private and museum collections.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. Light signs of wear throughout commensurate with age and use (as pictured). A couple small areas of light abrasion on body of lamp as pictured. Shade shows signs of wear with light areas of denting as detailed in images.
