Vintage Carved Onyx Trompe-L'oeil Book Paperweight with Cherub, Mandolin and Floral Etching, Circa Late 19th - Early 20th Century. Likely of Italian origin, the face of the “book” features incised hand-colored illustration of a winged cherub with a grouping of instruments including a mandolin. The central illustration is surrounded by a vine with leaves and berries. The reverse of the book features an incised and hand-colored bouquet of roses, violets, tulips and lily of the valley in a vase. Perfect for use as standalone sculpture or as a paperweight. Unsigned.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. Minimal surface wear, with a couple small chips to edges as detailed in images (does not detract from the overall look).
