$298.00

Folk Art “Bouncing Pig Farmer Crank” Sculpture by Willard Watson, Circa 1950s. Willard Watson (1921–1995), was a Black folk artist from Caddo Parish, Louisiana. He also went by the nickname, “The Texas Kid.” Watson’s folk art was based on his "memory, dreams, spirituality and life circumstances,” providing ample inspiration for his work. He was not formally trained and used objects and materials sourced directly from his daily life. The sculpture / toy is fashioned from wood and wire with screw joints. The figure, with an oversized western hat, is shown chasing a pig. Unsigned.

Condition: Great vintage condition. Light areas of surface variation. The original wire joined to the crank to make legs move would require replacement to be fully functional. Missing wire whip from hand (as pictured).

Specs: 11 3/4” Total Length | 4 3/8” D Including Hardware | 7” H
