Antique Victorian Shell Encrusted Box, Circa Early 20th Century. Fantastic assemblage of various seashells arranged in graphic patterns covering the exterior of the box. The frame is constructed of wood with an overlay of “wood grain” and marbled paper. The interior features a mirror on the underside of the lid with compartments on the lower portion for jewelry storage, including two fuchsia silk pillows for earrings. Lined with a textured foil. Four wood orb feet are affixed to the base. Unsigned.
Condition: Good antique condition, loss to shells present throughout, particularly along the edges. Light loss to the frame, the original binding used as a hinge for lid is no longer present. As pictured.
