Antique Folk Art Hand-Carved Painted Wood Figure, Circa Early 20th Century. Carved wood representation of a black man dressed in a white suit with bowtie. The figure’s face is beautifully detailed, with a painted mustache, tinted lips and remnants of leather hair. The body is jointed with nails at the arms and legs, allowing for pose adjustments. An exquisite representation of Folk Art, the majority of the figure’s body is painted white, showing signs of the paint’s age. Unsigned.
Condition: Great antique condition, shows signs of wear throughout commensurate with age and use. The figure’s right foot has slight loss (as detailed in photos). Some remnants of an adhesive on the surface.
