Vintage Large Scale Original Batik Artwork, Circa 1970s. Six connected figures with varied facial + bodily expressions in a stacked formation. Rendered in hues of auburn, burgundy and honey.
Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to the whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique. The applied wax resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to color selectively by soaking the cloth in one color, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colors are desired.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Frame shows light signs of wear with a few small chips in paint.
